THE BITEZ MARKETPLACE SOLAR POWER PLANT PROJECT IS SEEING AN INCREASE IN ENERGY EFFICIENCY

The Solar Power Plant implemented by Bodrum Municipality at the Bitez Market Hall achieved a high net metering performance in the first quarter of 2026. As part of the project carried out under the Directorate of Climate Change and Zero Waste, the system’s efficiency rate for March was recorded at 53.70%

As part of Bodrum Municipality’s renewable energy investments, the plant, installed on the 500-square-meter roof area of the Bitez Market Hall, plays an important role in reducing energy costs. The facility consists of a total of 190 panels, each with a capacity of 550 watts, and has an installed capacity of 104.5 kWe. It meets the energy needs of both the market hall and the municipality’s main service building.

According to data for the first three months of 2026 shared by the Directorate of Climate Change and Zero Waste, production capacity showed a steady upward trend in line with the increase in sunshine duration. The facility’s net metering rates increased from 20.44% in January and 33.49% in February to 53.70% in March.

The project, established to support environmentally friendly energy production, contributes directly to reducing the municipality’s carbon footprint as well as lowering its energy costs. Municipal officials stated that renewable energy projects will continue across the city in order to expand the use of sustainable energy and ensure environmental sustainability.

According to data for the first six months of 2026 shared by the Directorate of Climate Change and Zero Waste, production capacity showed a fluctuating trend over the period. The facility’s net metering rates were recorded as 16.12% in January, 29.93% in February, 50.29% in March, 66.24% in April, 25.79% in May, and 65.39% in June.
